Bazzill Blueprints: Merry and Bright

I love creating with sketches! I love that you don’t have to think about placement so you can focus more on trying fun techniques! We are excited to bring a new regular feature to the Bazzill blog called Bazzill Blueprints where we will provide you with a card sketch and also a couple of different examples of working with the sketch. Are you ready to see our first blueprint?

For my first card, I stayed pretty true to the sketch. Working with Pink Paislee’s Merry & Bright collection, I chose Card Shoppe: Red Hots as my card base as it is a thicker and sturdier card. I teamed it up with Guacamole from the Fourz collection as it was the perfect green to coordinate with the Christmas colors and patterns.

I added a bit of interest to the main card panel by scoring a border just in from the edge. For my sentiment I used a banner die cut from the Merry & Bright Ephemera and I also used bits from the ephemera pack to layer up as my main accent.

And here’s a slight twist: when I saw this sketch, the first thing I thought was that the scalloped semi-circle on top looked like a flap that could be folded over. So that’s exactly what I did for this first example.

The greeting can be added inside or even a gift card or money be safely tucked in there. Fun right?

For my second example, I again stayed true to the sketch when it came to placement of everything, but I had fun mixing it up a bit with different elements!

You can see that instead of a scalloped semi-circle, I used a bracket shaped patterned panel; instead of a layered embellishment, I tied a gold ribbon bow and let the tails hang down instead of the three mini banners.

I wanted to add some color to the background so I added some splatters of mist onto the White OP cardstock. And I love those fantastic gold glitter letters – perfect for spelling out a small sentiment.

So I’ve ended up with two different cards using the one sketch as my starting point! We’d love to see what you create using this Bazzill Blueprint too!
