The Grandpa Bazzill/Bazzill Basics Paper Connection…

Bazzill Engraving (purchased from Doug’s grandfather, Charlie Bazzill) started with only a few employees, changed its focus, and has grown to the largest paper company in the scrapbooking industry — Bazzill Basics Paper.

Douglas and Marti Jones began Bazzill Basics Paper in 1999 by providing cardstock in custom colors, textures, and sizes to independent scrapbook stores and craft retailers in the United States. Doug and his wife, Marti, also own and operate Scrapbooks, Etc. in Mesa, Arizona.

Bazzill Basics Paper developed after Marti approached the best paper source she could find, her husband, Doug, the owner of an engraving company. Doug ordered in unique, acid-free paper, cut it into manageable scrapbooking sizes from a nearby printer, and Marti sold it in her store. The idea snowballed. Soon other Arizona scrapbooking stores wanted to offer more cardstock choices, and when Doug couldn’t find anything else, he worked with North American paper mills to create the original Bazzill texture and monochromatic colors.

NOTE: Bazzill rhymes with Razzle Dazzle.
