Leigh here today with a banner to share that I made for the chalkboard I have in my dining room. I like to change it up often — sometimes I have a Bible verse, sometimes I’ll have something seasonal.
I was thinking that it would be fun to create a banner that said “happy” that would match the colours in my dining room. This way, I could change what’s written on my chalkboard, but keep the banner. This way I could write the season, “back to school”, “birthday”, “anniversary”, etc. I decided to start with one of my favourite words — “summer”!
To make my banner, I cut a piece of 12×12 Bazzill Basics Fourz: Avalanche into 4×6″ pieces. Then, I cut the banner part using the Reverse Confetti Triple Chevies Confetti Cuts, but turned upside down.
Then, I used my MISTI to stamp the flowers (using Papertrey Ink’s Bloomers stamp set) & leaves (using Papertrey Ink’s Songbirds stamp set) along the top of each banner. The MISTI allowed me to set up my stamps and stamp them repeatedly, saving lots of time. I was really pleased with how well they stamped on the Fourz cardstock!
I used my Silhouette to cut out the letters from some Bazzill Basics Fourz: Blackbird cardstock, measuring the letters to be approximately 1.5×2″.
I scored the top edge of the banners 0.75″ from the top. I put some adhesive along the back just below the score line, lined it with a length of black twine and folded it over to keep it in place. Once all five banner pieces were joined together, I added it to my chalkboard.
I can’t wait to change it up later this month for my husband’s birthday!
Thanks for looking!
