Holiday Countdown: Document the Decorating!

Well, the holiday season is well and truly upon us! And I’m pleased to report that I’m on track with all the decorating and activities . . . so far! We put up our tree last week and my youngest (who is one and a half) was very curious! When our backs were turned, he dragged one of his little chairs right up beside it and sat down to inspect it much closer! Of course, I grabbed the camera to sneakily take photos of our little rascal!

And I’m documenting the event already! I couldn’t wait to dive into the newest cardstock from Bazzill Basics, the Ombre collection! The colors are perfect for the upcoming holiday season!

You can see that I’ve used four colors of this cardstock to create the four “blocks” on my layout. I machine stitched around each square and added some flicks of white mist. I really wanted to give each square a different treatment so here’s a closer look at each square . . .

For the red square, I used my Heidi Swapp Minc plus the red and gold foil to add some shine to some of her ready-to-foil embellishments. I popped this photo up on foam dots so it stood out from the background a bit more and added a cute Christmas tree paper clip to finish it off!

For the white square (by the way, I think this is my fave of all the ombre cardstocks – that white to grey gradient is divine!) I first added dimension by running the cardstock through an embossing folder. I added a few gold foiled accents and a scattering of clear sequins and a ribbon bow to finish it off!

I also added texture to the aqua square with a different embossing folder (this one is more subtle). I die cut a deer from the gold foil cardstock to tuck in behind the photo and a few word stickers with gold foil detail also add a bit of interest to the photo.

For the green square, I first cut out some arrow shapes with a die and backed them with gold foil cardstock for a subtle accent. I again used the Heidi Swapp Minc to add red foil my title word “joy”.

I typed up some journaling to cut into strips and add to my layout to finish it off nicely! Hopefully the creativity will continue throughout December! And be sure to check out the Ombre cardstock if you haven’t already!
