Hello everyone! It’s Kelly here to share some easy ways to add texture and dimension to your scrapbook pages.
One of the first ways I add texture is simply by using different kinds of paper on my layout. On my page I have 4 different kinds of Bazzill cardstock: Double Thick White (base background and torn strips), Smoothies (torn Ocean Breeze), Mylar Sheet(butterflies) and Foil Board(‘lovely’ title). By tearing and layering the cardstock, I add even MORE texture. Smoothies cardstock tears beautifully!
Another easy way to add texture is by embossing your paper. I was so excited to emboss the Mylar Sheet and was THRILLED with the results!
First I embossed the piece of Mylar Sheet with a We R Memory Keepers wood grain embossing folder, and then I die cut the butterflies using the WRMK Evolution.
As for the texture on the background base of Double Thick White cardstock, I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in White and Gold, along with stencils, molding paste and Viva Décor Inka Gold. Double Thick White is awesome for mixed media messes because of its heavy weight.
Here is a short video tutorial that shows how I created this background:
Layer up some colored wire, sequins, gold mesh and Heidi Swapp resist flowers sprayed with more Gold Color Shine…and the extra texture creates that WOW factor.
The best part? There are 5 more colors of Mylar Sheets left for me to play with! Let the embossing fun begin!
