I love this time of year when there are reminders of love everywhere! It sparked a story that I’ve been meaning to document and that’s of my sweet 4-year-old son and how loving he is towards others.
I was inspired recently by this amazing crafter and her “faux” cross stitch art! I wanted to create a similar effect on a layout background but tweaked it a bit so it was an embossing resist background.
You can see for the stitches, I clear embossed a whole heap of ‘x’s – this was actually from an old alphabet set I had. I roughly drew the shape of my heart in pencil before I started.
I then used a very watered down paint and a wide brush to add color over the top to reveal the design! I used Bazzill White cardstock as my background of choice as I wanted the texture of the cardstock to show through the wash of paint. You can see that texture really well in the photo below.
This was the perfect statement to add my photo of my little boy, the story and embellishments to complete the layout. As a border around the outside of the white background, I used the marble cardstock in dark grey (Sugar Wafer).
Inspiration is really everywhere! I hope I’ve inspired you today to document the loving traits of others as well as try a new background technique that could be used for a multitude of projects!
